Kirk Nathan Holden, 56, of Austin passed away Friday, May 1, 2014.

He will be missed greatly by his family and friends left to cherish his memory.

Kirk was a native Austinite and graduate of the University of Texas. He enjoyed all things Austin and was proud of his city and community. Kirk was a kind and generous spirit, with a quick wit. Kirk was involved in Scouting for many years and very much enjoyed his camping and canoe trips with his sons and fellow scouts.
Kirk worked for many years as an engineer at Motorola and Freescale. He found his work and interactions with colleagues gratifying and took pride in their shared successes on projects.

Kirk is survived by three children: Nathan Holden and his wife Kacie Merkel and daughter Bobbie Andrea Holden; Micah Holden; and Jim Holden; as well as their mother, Olga Garza, He is also survived by his sister, Louann Volpendesta and brother, Tobin Holden, and their spouses and children. Kirk is also mourned and missed by his beloved extended family.

Funeral services will be at All Saints Episcopal Church (209 W. 27th St., 78705) at 2 pm on Saturday, May 17, followed by a reception at Kinsolving Parish Hall.
