Lalavane Johnson

Lalavane Haywood Johnson was born November 19, 1921 to Roy Haywood and Amanda Green Haywood in Bastrop, TX.

She professed a hope in Christ at an early age. She was a member of the Simpson United Methodist Church.

Lalavane grew up and attended school in Bastrop, Texas. She was a talented cook who made every meal a special occasion. She had a "big heart" and was the pillar for her family. She was affectionately known to her family and friends as "DEAR".

While residing in Austin, she was the caregiver for her father until his death. Following the death of her father she moved to Galveston, Texas where she was the caregiver for both her mother and her sister.

Lalavane was very passionate about her family, especially her grandchildren. In November of 2008, after hurricane Ike, she came to Round Rock, Texas.

She entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October22, 2014 at the Park Valley Nursing Center, Round Rock, TX.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Vivian Johnson of Waldorf, MD and son-in-law, Dr Billy Young, of Round Rock, TX. Her six grandchildren; Terence J. Young Sr. and wife Kendraof Williamsport, MD; Urshala D. Young of Austin, TX ; Cherishe A. Norman and husband Vernelza, of Houston, Texas; Terrill L. Young and wife Lynn of Missouri City, TX; Sherman Kirkland of Titusville, FL; Fanita Kirkland of Mims, FL; 19 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren.

She also leaves one brother, Norcell Haywood of San Antonio, TX, one sister, Annie Middleton (Poncho) of Dallas, TX; two aunts, LuluMae Haywood Thomas and Evelyn Robinson both of Houston, TX; three sisters-in-law, Robbie Haywood, of Austin, TX; Henrietta Haywood Vinson of Dallas, TX; Joyce Haywood, of San Antonio, TX; brother-in-law, Herman Johnson of San Diego, CA; a loyal friend, Freddie Hill of Galveston, TX; a very treasured family friend, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, of Dallas, TX and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Visitation Services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at All Faiths Funeral Service-North Location. Home Going Celebration Services on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11:00am at Simpson United Methodist Church, 1709 E. 12th St., Austin Texas. Interment Services will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
