Leland Franke

Leland Kenneth Franke, originally of El Campo, TX, passed away peacefully on Friday June 3, 2022 at the age of 90 in Austin, TX.

Leland was born in El Campo, TX on June 9, 1931 to Wilma Irene “Mud” (Payne) and Nonie Leland Franke and had three sisters. He graduated from The University of Houston, served as an officer in the Army during the Korean war and worked for Shell Oil Co. and Allied Group of Houston, TX and later worked for Brown & Root of Houston, TX where he managed the accounting department in Okinawa, Japan for some time.

Anyone who knew him won’t forget his passion for sports, namely football, having played for El Campo High School. He was also an avid tennis player. Besides football, maybe his favorite thing was a good cup of coffee.

Those who will remember him include his sister Beverly Ann Grove; his proud children, Leanne Franke Kelsey and Kenneth Alan Franke of Pflugerville, TX; three grandchildren, Justin Kelsey, Jordan Kelsey and Garrett Franke; five step-grandchildren, Crystal Felty, Monica Martinez, Mickey Felty, Timmy Felty and Tamie Felty; four great-grandchildren, Aiden Lee Kelsey, Krissy Kelsey, Kaylee Kelsey, and Paulette Kelsey; and eight step great-grandchildren, Madison Martinez, Ashton Martinez, Lyla Martinez, Cora Felty, Wyatt Felty, Remi Felty, Patrick Felty, and Bradley Felty.

He was preceded in death by two siblings, Rowena Franke on December 4, 1944 and Patsy Ruth Franke on January 3, 1998.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Pflugerville Community Church, 1214 Pfennig Lane, Pflugerville, TX. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. and a reception will be at 1:00 P.M. at Cinemark movie theater, 15436 FM 1825, in Pflugerville.
