Lillian Overton

Lillian Othella Overton was born to Christopher and Myrtle Mumphord on February 24, 1921 in Victoria County, Texas. She departed this life on Monday, July 17.

Later in life, she moved to Austin, TX where she met and united in marriage with Albert James Overton (deceased) on December 30, 1952. She was employed by the American Bank for 25 years and was accommodated for her outstanding service when she retired.

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was a member of the David Chapel Baptist Church in Austin, TX, where she served on the Usher Board and the Senior Mission until her health failed.

Othella enjoyed cooking and baking and playing dominoes. She had a knack for remembering family members birthdays. She loved children and after she retired, she looked after her granddaughters and her great nephew.

Memories of Othella will be forever cherished by her daughters Cathy Overton-Mays (LaRue) of Austin, TX and a step-daughter, Rose McMillan of Los Angeles, CA; a special niece, Veda (Katie) Jones of Austin, TX; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her parents, five sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.

The homegoing service for Othella will be Wednesday, July 26 at 11 am at David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2211 E. Martin Luther King Blvd, Austin, TX. Viewing of the remains will be Tuesday, July 25 from 3 – 8 pm at All Faiths Funeral Home, 8507 N. IH-35, Austin, TX.
