Linda Kay McDow, 49, transitioned from Earth to Heaven on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 after fighting a long battle of breast cancer.
In the year 1966, on February 16, Linda Kay Brown took her first breath of life. Her mother, Frances Brown was thrilled to announce to her siblings and family back in Smithville, Texas, that a new addition to their family had arrived. A beautiful baby sister was born in Galveston, Texas.
Linda Kay joined her church at a very early age. She lived a very strong Christian life until she answered the call from labor to reward on February 2, 2016. Linda fought the good fight and kept the faith.
Linda was educated in the Smithville Independent School District and graduated from Smithville High School on May 31, 1986. After graduating high school, she became a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and started her lifelong career at Towers Nursing Home in Smithville, Texas on November 19, 1991. Linda was admired by her supervisors and co-workers as being a hard worker and dedicated employee. She served Towers Nursing Home with 24 years of employment until her health failed her in 2015.
Linda is survived by: Two sons; Jonathon Brown and Delvin McDow, Jr. of Smithville, Texas; Gilbert Brown, Sr. and Filbert Brown, Sr. of Smithville, Texas; One sister, June Andrews of Houston, Texas; Seven half-sisters and Two half-brothers; Two aunts, Irene Griffin of Houston, Texas; and Jerry Partidge of Austin, Texas; One uncle, Wilford Leonard of Austin, Texas; A childhood best friend, LaVerne Duncan Gillins; A wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.
Those who heard the voice of the Father and preceded her in death were: Her Mother, Frances Brown; her Father, Lee Arthur Kellough; Her grandparents, three aunts and Four uncles.
The family will hold a visitation on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at New Flower Baptist Church, Smithville, Texas from 10-11AM. Funeral services will follow at the same location starting at 11AM. Linda will be laid to rest at the Colorado Cemetery located in Smithville, Texas.
