Linda Ruth Young was born on July 23, 1953 to Melvin Clarence Williams and Ethel Mae Priestley Williams in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School, Driscoll Junior High School. She later received her GED and continued her education in school for Data Entry.
Linda was a member of East Side Baptist Church where she was in mission, the drama department, greeters, church transporter and church janitorial. She also did nursing home ministry with Brother Robert Chambers, and outreach program with Reverend Barber. Linda did tax prepration, fed the homeless and was a part of a gospel group, All of God's Children.
Linda was employed at Southern Floral for eleven years. She departed this life May 15, 2012
She married Lawrence Lewis Sr. and to this union, five sons were born. She later married Elliot Young. Both husbands preceded her in death.
She is also preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Mae Williams, father, Melvin Williams; brothers, Rosevelt Williams and Charles Lee Williams; sisters, Sally Elaine Williams and Maxine Trask; nephews, David Lamar Williams and Thomas Triggs III, and niece, Wanda Jean Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Arthur Lee Lewis, Arton Lewis (Ashley) of Austin, Lawrence Lewis, Edward Lewis (Nichole) of Port Arthur, TX, Ashton Lewis (Kim) of Austin, Melvin Williams (Athie) of Corpus Christi, TX; god daughter, Shaniquan Phlucos; sisters, Gloria Jean Pollard of Peoria, IL, Ida Mae Tina of Soladad, CA., Mary Pete (Charles) of Austin, Vera Senagal (Wilbert); brother, James Williams Sr. (Lorraine) of Victoria, TX; brother-in-law, Derick Trask; 7 grand children; 7 great-grand children; sister-in-law, Vernell Williams; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, May 25, 2012 at All Faiths Funeral Services, North Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Services will be Saturday, May 26, 2012 at East Side Baptist Church, 2400 Northeast Drive, Austin, TX at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
