Her father died three weeks before she was born and her mother died in a car accident just before she turned five years old , leaving her to be raised by her loving grandmother the late Mary Nunley Plummer Watson.

She confessed her life to Christ at an early age, while attending Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church on 12th street with her grandmother who was a Mother of the church. Eventually, she joined Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church during the pastorage of Reverend J.H Washington.
