Queen Lula Mae Green Johnson passed away peacefully in her home on July 23, 2015 in Pflugerville, TX at the age of 89. Lula Mae was born in Frankston, TX on May 12,1926 to Ms. Alice McCuin and Mr. Robert Richard Green.

Lula Mae resided in Odessa, TX most of her adult life before moving to Austin, TX in 1991 to be close to her youngest daughter Larette Johnson-Harris. She lived with Larette for the last 15 years enjoying her two youngest grandchildren Ebonee' "Kween" Johnson and Mahoganee Chanel Willis. She was able to watch four of her great grandchildren grow and flourish for the last 14 years Essynce Briance' Trejo, Taetryon Charles Jones, Jaymone King Robinson and Canelo Andres White. Lula Mae had a beautiful and contagious spirit. She worked for several families in Odessa, TX as a house keeper for many years. She took pride in her work and loved what she did. Lula Mae had a passion for making people happy and she loved to serve. Lula Mae was a faithful member and served many years at St. Matthew Baptist Church and Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Odessa, TX. Lula Mae spent most of her free time speaking with people in nursing homes, going to assist the sick and shut in and being available to help family and friends whenever they called her.

Lula Mae was a true angel who you never heard complain. She always had a beautiful bright smile on her face and her laugh was simply unforgettable. Lula Mae was the rock and foundation of the Johnson family. Everyone knew they could call "Big Mama" anytime and she would always be there to provide her unconditional love, kindness, wisdom, laughter, prayer, patience, guidance, truth and listening ear. She always gave from her heart never expecting anything in return. She would offer her last to a stranger and be the first to help anyone in need. Lula Mae had a heart of pure love and a spirit of power, perseverance, strength and courage. Even in Lula Mae's last days living with Alzheimer's she always kept her great sense of humor, smiling, laughing and talking mess.

We all know "Big Mama" or "Grammie Bug" as some of the grandchildren called her for loving to go fishing, serving people in her community, bringing the family together, sewing, cooking some of the greatest home cooked meals we've ever tasted, telling the best stories, making everything better and putting the biggest smiles on everyone's face.

We have all learned something from Our Legend and now that she has transitioned she has left us all with her beautiful and bright spirit of true love, humbleness, patience, kindness and strength. This beautiful Queen has left us all with many virtues we can apply to our lives so that she lives on through each and everyone of us.
