Maleeca Shon-teal Smith was born on February 2, 1999 to Measha Smith and Frank Mungin in El Paso, Texas. Maleeca spent the first few years of her life in Arkansas, and then her family relocated to Austin, TX where she grew up.
Maleeca can be described as a quite social butterfly. She was an example of a person who has a gentle and quite spirit. She was very caring and respectful. She was known for her beautiful smile. Although she was tiny in size, she had a big personality.
Maleeca was a Girl Scout and loved all aspects of being a member from camping, selling cookies, and volunteering. At the age of 10, while attending Shoreline Christian Center, Maleeca gave her life to Christ. It is at Shoreline that Maleeca began praise dancing. Maleeca excelled in academics and was involved in many extracurricular activities. Maleeca later became a member of Alpha Seventh Day Adventist church. She was an active member of Patherfinders and Alpha Youth.
Maleeca Smith attended Eastside Memorial High School and graduated third in her class. She was in the orchestra, a cheerleader, and a manager for several sports teams in high school. She was also on the dance team.
She attended University of Texas at San Antonio and was in her sophomore year studying physical therapy.
Maleeca's was taken from us in the physical sense on April 12, in a car accident. However, she and a lifetime of memories will forever live in our hearts.
Maleeca is preceded in death by her grandmother, Eva Thompson (Ehah).
Maleeca loved to spend time with her family and was known for several dishes which were passed down throughout the family. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, sense of humor, and adventurous and fun spirit.
To esteem her memories are her loving mother, Measha Smith; her father, Frank Mungin of South Carolina; a caring sister, Latiya Smith; and grandmother, Doreather Cones of Austin, TX, and grandfather, Herbert Cones, of Bearden, AR; boyfriend, Sherrod Jackson, of Austin, TX, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The viewing service will be held at All Faiths Funeral Home on April 18th from 5-8. The celebration of Maleeca's life will take place on April 19th at Eastside Memorial High School at 2pm.
