Margie J. Dixon died suddenly on October 1, 2016 at her home. Margie was born on October 10,1933 in Austin, Texas. Margie spent her youth in both Austin and Houston areas She often spent summers in Austin with her grandmother and family.
After graduating from High School in she began her banking career in the posting department of First City Bank of Houston. She worked in the banking industry in several capacities during her career. Her career was some forty seven years long. She retired from Motorola Credit Union, Austin, TX in 1998.
After her divorce, Margie raised her son Gary in Houston where in 1967 she married Ray E. Dixon and they began raising their combined family. Unfortunately, Ray was killed in an accident within the first year of their marriage. Margie lived in Houston until 1978 when she moved to Austin and began working for University Credit Union.
Margie Dixon loved to dance and be with friends whenever time permitted. She and Ray regularly went dancing. Margie loved to play spinner with young and old.
She was always an active member of whatever Methodist Church was in her neighborhood. As a member at Crestview United Methodist , she participated in several activities and ministries - Double 5s, United Methodist Women and annual UMW Bazaar.
While everything she did for others was wonderful the arrival of Grandchildren brought special joy. Margie never saw anything but beautiful babies. In a store she would see a baby and be drawn to it like a magnet. She loved the blessing of her grandchildren and grandnieces and nephews. The great grand children were a double blessing.
Those who greeted Margie in heaven included: Husband and love of her life Ray E. Dixon; siblings Mary, Georgie and Randy; Nephew Jimmy Lantrip; Parents Bertha Gay and George Ormsbee; grandparents Betty and W.B. Jenkins.
Those who survive to cherish her memory are Gary & Ann Brizendine, Belinda Godines, Barbara & Ron Hawkins. Grandchildren Ariane & Jason Leverett, Ross & Rachel Pry, Jimmy & Cheri Fox, Chris & Nicole Fox, Cathy Miller, Madison Kropp, Savannah Driver, Scott Hawkins, Tammy Hawkins, Josh Lantrip, Amber Marks, Drew Miller, Sarah Miller, Albert Miller Charity & Curtis Driver, & Mark Brizendine. Great grandchildren - Madison, Savannah, Colby, Gabby, Mastin, Maverick, Emily, Claire, Lacey, Clark & Wyatt. All her friends and family.
A celebration of the life of Margie Dixon will be held at Crestview United Methodist Church, 1300 Morrow, Austin, TX. At 11 AM on October 10,2016. In lieu of flower please make donations to Crestview United Methodist Church, 1300 Morrow, Austin, TX. Or the animal rescue organization in your area.
