Maria Tovar

Maria “Big Mary” Elm Tovar (Arispe) 69, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born in Austin, Tx in 1949, where she lived her whole life.

Funeral mass will be held in her honor on Wednesday June 5th, 2019 at 10am. Services will be at Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Austin, Texas. She will be laid to rest at Assumption Cemetery following the funeral mass.

The family will also be hosting a potluck luncheon in her honor at Cristo Rey Catholic Church Parish Hall following the burial.

Mary is survived by her children Valerie Rios (Leo Rios), Marie Herrera (Joel Moran) and Miguel Lopez (Angel Luna). Her brothers Jose Arispe III (Carmelita Arispe), Frank Arispe and sister María Cecilia Arispe. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren Lisa (Tony), Daniel, Keven, Vanessa (Juan), Hereven Jr (Sabrina), Alyssa, Anthony, Maria (Jesus), Clara, Brandon (Destinee), Errianna and Daliyah. She had 3 greatgrandchildren with 1 on the way.

She had the honor of being an Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved mother Encarnaciona “Chona” Arispe, brothers Jose Arispe Il, Manuel “Boy” Arispe, Antonio “Tony” Arispe, sisters Guadalupe “Lupe” Arispe, Josephina “Josie” Rodriguez and Theresa “Terry” Abalos.

She will always be remembered for her kind heart and giving nature. No matter how little she had she always made sure there was enough for everyone. She had a sassy mouth and a quick wit that she kept till the end. You are greatly missed and will always be in our hearts. Rest peacefully our angel
