Lynne was born in Annapolis, MD at the U.S. Naval Academy Hospital, to Marilyn T. and Marvin A. Weir on May 11th in 1949. Being part of a military family they traveled extensively around the world, but Lynne was most fond of Morocco. Her father later went to work for NASA, landing the family in Cocoa Beach, FL, where Lynne graduated High School. She was a gifted singer and guitar player, which provided her support in her life for many years. As well as music, Lynne was a huge lover of animals which led her to be employed with Houser’s Zoo, working with the large cats. Eventually she moved to Houston, TX where she would meet the love of her life, Nick. Together they moved to the Austin area to make a home and be closer to her parents.
Throughout the years her gift of gab had her in the sales industry and eventually leading her to be active in Travis County politics, until health issues limited her activity. Throughout the years she remained a devoted animal lover and caregiver to the strays and in adopting all the homeless fur babies.
Lynne was very smart and outspoken with a big heart. She will be missed dearly by her many friends, family and animals. She was preceded in death by her brother Marvin "Skip" Weir Jr. and sister Gail Marie Weir. She leaves behind family in her loving husband Nick, her brother William “Bill” Weir and her niece Shawna Casey.
Visitation will be held at 1:00pm on August 7th at All Faiths Funeral Home, 8507 North IH-35, Austin. Be mindful that the Pandemic Stage 4 restrictions have reduced this gathering to a maximum of 10 friends and family in the room at any one time. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Austin Pets Alive or PETA in Lynne’s honor. Please light a candle for our beloved Lynne.
