Mary Barton

August 12, 1926 — June 16, 2017

North Austin Location

Mary Ann Cudd Barton, 90, of Austin, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017. She was born August 12, 1926 in Perryton, Texas to Milam Marion Cudd and Winnie Latta Rhodes Cudd.

Mary Ann and Jerry moved from the Texas Panhandle to Austin in 1964 where she worked for the Austin Independent School District for 21 years and retired in 1986. During the early years in Austin they enjoyed socializing with Quail Creek neighbors, playing the domino game 42, and square dancing with the “Bluebonnets”. They were members of Crestview Baptist Church. They moved to Georgetown in 1979 where they enjoyed many years of retirement with the majority of their time spent on extensive genealogy research and travel. They were members of the Williamson County Genealogical Society. Mary Ann was proud to be a member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). They were members of First Baptist Church in Georgetown and also enjoyed a regular Bridge game. Mary Ann had quite a collection of beautiful African Violets, while Jerry personally maintained his vegetable gardens, small vineyard, and many potted plants. Mary Ann also enjoyed watching sports, painting, and ceramics classes at Stonehaven Senior Center. They later moved back to Austin to be closer to family (and genealogical resources).

Mary Ann will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by

an infant son Jerry Don Barton, husband Jerry Tyson Barton, sister Cleo Martin, and brother Roy Cudd. She is survived by her three daughters: Carolyn Cotte and husband Richard (Midland, TX), Kathy Barton and partner Mary Ingle (Galveston, TX), and Chris Willmann and husband Carl (Austin, TX), and two grandchildren, Merissa Davis-Sandate (Kent, WA), and Sarah Willmann (Austin, TX). Her beloved little dogs Spook, Max, and Mitz also preceded Mary Ann in death.
