Mary Katherine Snyder age 82, long time resident of Channelview, TX, died peacefully in her sleep while surrounded by family, on December 15, 2014 at Brodie Ranch Nursing facility in Austin, TX. She was born on June 22, 1932 in Tonawanda, NY.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Charles Anthony Snyder, Parents Eugene and Agnes Duffy, Father, Frances R. "Buddy" Hart, Grand Parents, James Hart and Agnes Killgannon Hart, Sisters Margaret Duffy Putnam and Francine Hart Kelly, Brothers, Joe Duffy, Basil Duffy, Hank Duffy and Anthony Hart
She is survived by Sister Sheila Hart Flick of Hiram, GA, Brother James A. Hart and wife Charlynne of Hendersonville, NC and Sister in Law Marion Duffy of Goldsboro, NC.
She was a loving mother to her children, Mary Snyder Posern and Husband Joe Posern of Austin, TX, David Snyder and Wife Camilla Snyder of Smithville, TX, William Snyder and Wife Elizabeth Snyder of Pasadena, TX, Patrick Snyder and Wife Amanda Snyder of Houston, TX and Joseph Snyder and Wife Tonya Snyder of Coral Springs, FL.
A Doting "Nana" to Grand Children, Shannon Posern and Husband Nevin Durish, Teresa Posern, Jonathan Snyder and Wife Victoria Snyder, Christin Snyder, Chris McCorkle, Jonathan McCorkle, Joe McCorkle, Meagan Snyder, Kara-Anne Snyder, Emmerson Snyder, Tyler Snyder, Matthew Snyder and Cory Snyder along with her Great Grand Children, Abigail Snyder, Nathan Snyder and Katelyn Snyder.
She will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mary was born and raised in upstate New York where she was raised by Eugene and Agnes Duffy. She graduated from Friendship High School and then attended nursing school. She then met and married Charles Snyder from Andover, NY. They moved from New York to Texas in 1960, where they finished raising their five children in Channelview, TX. Mary was known to be quite the advocate for her children within the Channelview School District, where we are sure she is still remembered today. She was a local volunteer in the community, helping with boy scouts, little league and FFA along with hundreds of school functions.
She will be remembered for always having a full cookie jar, hidden candy for the kids and an amazing Irish Temper. Mary's fiery spirit and tenacious manner will be missed by all.
There will be a grave side service at 3pm on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Oak Hill Cemetery. The cemetery is located 2 miles south of Smithville, TX on Hwy 95 South.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation in her name to one of her favorite charities would be appreciated.
