Michael Sholes

Chief Warrant Officer 4 (Retired) Michael Eugene Sholes passed away on Sunday, July 27th, 2014 at his home in Lago Vista after a brief illness. He was surrounded by family and friends. Mike was born on April 23, 1944 in Marshall Michigan. He was an outstanding athlete in high school and lettered in baseball and basketball.

He was a highly decorated Army Veteran having served in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He retired from the Army after 28 years. He culminated his career in research and development and led covert operations around the world testing advanced equipment.

Mike and his Wife Jean moved to Lago Vista 22 years ago and are blessed to have a wide circle of friends in the community. They were fortunate to have their son Michael Brian, join them as a resident in Lago Vista after his service in the Air Force. Mike and Michael were volunteer firefighters and medics in Lago Vista for many years. Mike and Jean had 49 wonderful years together seeing the world through over twenty moves with the Army.

Mike is also survived by his sister Brenda and brother Robert. Jean and Mike shared many wonderful vacations and projects around the home with Jean's brother, Don Harris, his wife Marsha and their daughter Diane and her family.

Husband, Father, Brother, Friend, Leader... ..He will be dearly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held on August 10, 2014 at 2:00pm at the K-Oak Clubhouse in Lago Vista. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project in Mike's name.
