Mildred (Mimi) Fromme Gerding Mildred Gerding, Longtime resident and retired editor for the Petroleum Extension Service, University of Texas, Austin (PETEX) passed away Thursday, August 8th. Born March 1, 1927, daughter to Aldolph and Elanita Fromme of Weesatche, TX and survived by her siblings Jerrel Fromme of Mathis, TX and Bettylou Brendalen of Skidmore, TX. In 1944 upon graduation from Mathis HS Mildred was awarded a Journalism Scholarship to the University of Texas Austin. After receiving a Bachelor's degree in Journalism Mildred spent many years editing college text books and training materials for the University of Texas Austin before retiring in 1986. Mildred was a spirited fan of the UT Longhorn football team and followed the organization closely. She was a long time member of the Austin Republican Women (ARW) as well as the Nueces County Republican party and devoted much of her time to their cause. In 1947 Mildred married E. Burton (Burt) Gerding, a retired Lieutenant with the Austin Police Dept., who preceded her in death earlier this year. She is survived by her son Gary B. Gerding, daughter Jeanne C. Whittington, six grandchildren and their spouses, and seven great-grandchildren. The wonderful memories of Mildred will live always in our minds and forever in our hearts. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 17th, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church on Anderson Ln, Austin, TX.
