She worked as an Early Childhood Teacher/Preschool teacher for almost 30 years at Robin's Nest and Little Blue Schoolhouse in Bastrop, Texas.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Mitch Herring. The two were married on August 16, 1980 in Houston, Texas. Mitch and Nancy have been residents of Smithville, Texas for the last30 years.
Nancy is lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Chelsea and Max Hoffman; her brother Robert "Bob" McDaniel and his family; the family of her late brother, Roy Jr.; and her mother-in-law, Shirley Herring and her family.
Nancy is predeceased by her mother, Virginia Scruggs, her father, Roy Lee McDaniel, and her oldest brother, Roy McDaniel, Jr.
Nancy's hobbies included singing at church, various stained glass projects, making jewelry, painting, and expanding her collection of bears and faeries. She loved to teach children and sing with the choir at St. Paul's Catholic Church. She took great pride in her Irish heritage, and loved to explore more about her family's background. Not only did she take great pride in her family's heritage, but she also took great pride in her alma mater, The University of Texas. Those who knew her know that she didn't bleed red: she bled burnt orange like her favorite football team. She also loved animals, especially all her cats and dogs that she had throughout her lifetime. She also enjoyed traveling to new places. Nancy loved the arts, music, and her faith. She loved life and loved making others happy.
