On April 4th, 2017, at the age of 51, Nancy Macias passed away at her home surrounded her loved ones. After battling cancer for 3 long years her battle ended peacefully and painlessly. Nancy was an incredibly strong woman and her smile and laugh were contagious. She could light up a room and always did her best to make everyone’s day a good one. Nancy was a very kind woman and was always the first person to lend a shoulder to cry on to those that needed it.
Nancy was a well-known employee of the Manor ISD staff for 23 years. Aside from being a hard working staff member, she was known for her amazing craftsmanship. Nancy enjoyed keeping herself busy with work, making new crafts, and spending time with her family that she loved so dearly.
Around September of 2013, Nancy was diagnosed with stage 2b breast cancer. Although she beat the breast cancer, 2 years later, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Even in the face of this devastating news, she continued to have a positive attitude, and with a smile on her face she continued to fight harder than ever.
Throughout her time on this earth, Nancy always knew that even in the face of adversity she had a supportive family and amazing friends who she cared for deeply, that were by her side no matter what the circumstances were.
Nancy’s husband, Jose Macias, was with her when she passed. She left behind a loving family with whom she was very close with. Nancy is survived by her loving kids, John Macias, Steven Macias, and Gabriella Zapata. As well as her siblings; Sylvia Rivera, Emma Nava, Joe Rivera, Raymond Rivera. Also her favorite niece, Estella Wash, and her family. Thank you for those who provided great care during her time of need.
A special thanks to her chemo nurse Marcus Gasaway, her Hospice nurses Beck Laver and Nikki Hudnall, and social worker Megan McDonald.
