Oliver Taylor was born November 1, 1930 to the late Arthur and Gertrude (McNeil) Taylor in Austin,Texas. Five sons were born to this union: Arthur Taylor, Jr. , William B. Taylor, Samuel L. Taylor, Ray Taylor, and Oliver Taylor. Two brothers preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn two brothers, Sam (Faye)and Ray Taylor. He also leaves his four children, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined the Peaceful St. James Baptist Church led by Pastor Marcus Cooper. Oliver received an education in the Austin Independent School district and later attended Houston
Tillotson College.

He was drafted into the United States Army in 1950 and served in the Korean War. He later transferred to the Unites States Air Force and received an honorable discharge. He traveled extensively while serving in the military. After serving his country and attending some years of college, he joined the Harris County Sheriff Department and became a Law
Enforcement Officer. He worked in Law Enforcement in several Texas counties throughout his career. After many years, he retired from the Travis County Sheriff Department. Later, he also retired from Hays Independent School District Transportation Department after another ten years. Although retired, he continued to work and be active. He served on the Security Staff at Victory Christian Center, where he was a member for several years.

He was married to the late Minnie L. Hill and to this union four children were born: Dyane Taylor, Lester Taylor, Ralph Taylor, Oliver Eugene Taylor.

Later he united in marriage to Mildred B. Williams. He was a kind and loving husband, a great provider, and lived life with a great passion. He loved camping and travelled to many states throughout the country.

He was a strong man and later joined The Word of Life Faith Christian Center where he remained a member until his home going.
