Pablo Cristian Taboada Camus, 59, breathed his last breath on April 12, 2015 at home in the arms of his beloved wife, Paula, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Santiago, Chile, he came to Austin as a young boy and became an ever present part of Austin soccer. Pablo helped start the soccer program at McCallum High School, played for the UT soccer club, countless city leagues and pick up games until an injury ended his lifelong career in 2009.
His passion for soccer was matched only by his passion for painting. Throughout his life, Pablo strove to capture the beauty of the world around him with strength and honesty. He continued to paint and plan his next projects until the end and leaves behind a vast body of interpretations of life filled with grace, harmony and beauty.
He died as he lived with calm and dignity, quietly and on his own terms. He will be deeply missed by his wife Paula Salinas Taboada, his faithful companion Patches, his mother Cristina Taboada, his brother Manuel Taboada and sisters Veronica Putney and Pilar Taboada Chiodo, the Salinas family, his eighteen nieces and nephews and countless friends and colleagues.
The last weeks of his life were filled with an extraordinary outpouring of love and respect from friends and family from around the world who visited and shared joy, laughter and sorrow with him to the end.
To all of those who shared this time with him, his family extends their deepest thanks for filling his last days with such happiness.
