Thomas L. Sneed was born to Herbert A. Sneed and Alma Franklin Sneed on June 28, 1933 in Austin TX. He was the 4th of 5 children born to this union. He attended Blackshear Elementary, Kealing Junior High and L.C. Anderson High School.
He accepted Christ at the age of 12 under the pastoral leadership of his father H.A. Sneed of Mt. Olive Baptist Church .He was a member of the young adult choir and later the senior Choir. He was called into the ministry at age 16 and began preaching at 21.
He was united in holy matrimony to Delores Watson on September 24, 1953 in Austin, TX. To this union 5 children were born.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army in December of 1953, after two years he was honorably discharged.
Thomas pursued his education to show himself an approved workman of God. He had a strong desire to live up to the words written in 2 Timothy 2:15 He continued his education with a degree in Business Education at People's Business College, with attendance at Guadalupe College in San Antonio, TX, the University of Texas and Baylor University ultimately receiving a Bachelors of Theology.
Pastor sneed was a blessing for 9 years to the members of St. Mary's MBC in Pflugerville, TX. He then moved to Austin, TX to lead the New Bethel BC where for 15 months. He was then called to Rising Star BC for more than 8 years. But God had chosen a place for him in his word -off the beaten path, where he would fulfill God's Purpose.. He devoted the remainder of his life to that purpose and to the members of the Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church.
To cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Delores Sneed. Children Jerry (Betty), Thomas Jr. (Tracie), Kenneth (Reba), Cheryl (John) Keith (Proceeded in death). A Sister Katherine Gray, 11 Grandchildren (one preceded in death Christopher) and 16 great-Grandchildren (1 Preceded in death Christian Jr.) and host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation Services will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 2:00pm to 7:00pm at All Faiths Funeral Services, 8507 N. IH-35, Austin Texas.
Home Going Services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at 11:00am at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 3417 E. MLK Blvd., Austin Texas.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015 at 10:00am at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen Texas with Military Honors being presented by the U.S. Army.
