Patrick James Thompson 1947-2018
Patrick James Thompson, father, grandfather and uncle, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018. Pat was born on November 3, 1947, in Gloversville, NY. He grew up in Johnstown, NY on the family farm. He joined the Air Force with four of his buddies and went off to Vietnam at 19 (all four of them made it out). Following his return, he started a family and moved to Austin, TX. He worked for the City of Austin and Ragsdale Aviation, and retired after a long career with FedEx. He volunteered his time with Meals on Wheels and various veteran support services. Although he was an upstate New York native, he migrated as far south as he could to enjoy the warmth of a small coastal town and lived in Port Aransas for the past 14 years.
Aside from his kids and granddaughter, his main true love was his Blazer "Betsy." He never met a stranger and adored his many friends. Pat enjoyed the simple life and always liked to dance to his own tune. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gloria and George Frank; his sister, Tonye Gregga; and his grandson, Ryder Condry. He is survived by his son, Sean Thompson; his daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Ryan Condry; granddaughter, Hadley; sisters, Diane Czechowicz, Jennye Barker and Darlene Johnson; and brother, Paul Thompson; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
