Peggy Elizabeth Smith Tisdel, 83, born May 10, 1931 in Spearman, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday night, January 12, at her home in Round Rock, Texas.
Peggy was raised in Moberly, Missouri where she graduated from High School and continued her undergraduate studies at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. She completed her Bachelor of Religious Education in 1960 at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. It is here while working for the Assistant to the President of the Seminary where she met her husband of over 50 years, James F. Tisdel.
Rev. Tisdel was attending seminary with his 2 daughters, Myra and Jean after the death of his first wife and son. James, Peggy, Myra and Jeanie were married on the 15th of May, 1964.
At this time, Peggy's whole devotion was to be the cornerstone of support for a young minister and to raise the two daughters and 2 sons that came along after, Timothy and Matthew.
She was known as the 'perfect pastor's wife' as she assisted in the ministry as preschool director and with the details of raising children as she supported her husband as he served his Lord. Her joy was becoming a Grandmother 9 times and then a Great Grandmother with 5 great granddaughters and 1 great grandson on the way.
Peggy was an active member of Great Hills Baptist Church in Austin, Texas.
She is survived by her husband Rev. James F. Tisdel, 2 daughters, Dr. Myra Jane Campbell of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jeanie Kietzke of Round Rock, Texas; 2 sons, Timothy Todd Tisdel of Round Rock and Matthew James Tisdel of Inman, South Carolina; her brother Wilbur Glenn (Jimmy) Smith and wife Maurine of St. Louis, Missouri; her 9 grandchildren and 5.5 great grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, January 16th at Great Hills Baptist Church, 10500 Jollyville Road, Austin, Texas 78759. Visitation is at 10 AM and service at 11 AM with Dr. Danny Forshee officiating. Burial will be at Andice Cemetary in Andice, Texas at 2 pm.
