Percy James (PJ) Leggett was born on July 19, 1951 to Otis and Creola Leggett in Allen Alabama. Percy was baptized at an early age and attended Samuel Chapel AME Church in Prichard, Alabama. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in San Antonio, Texas.

Percy joined the Navy on July 16, 1971 as a Medical Corpsman/Medical Assisstant. After serving in the military he worked at the Kelly Airforce Base until his health failed him. P.J. had a passion for all types of music and sports. He was an avid domino and chess player. He could be very competitive which sometimes led to debate, but he was always the winner.

Percy leaves one sister Carolyn Leggett of Austin, Texas and three brothers Otis Leggett (Gwen) of Bullhead City Arizona; Roy Leggett (Gloria) of San Antonio, Texas; Ricky Leggett of Irvine, Texas; two nieces Tiesa and Ginayle Leggett; three nephews, Keith, Rico and Kevin; one great nephew Keith Jaevian Leggett; one uncle Rev. JW Leggett (Urtha) of Mobile, Alabama and a host of cousins and friends.
