Ralph Lane Campion, age 79, died at Warm Springs Specialty Hospital in Luling, Texas on Saturday, December 21, 2013.
He was born January 12, 1934, in Saturn, Texas to Herbert Campion and Fannie (Barron) Campion. Ralph graduated from Waelder High School in 1952. He then began his career with Southwestern Bell, now known as AT & T, retiring after forty-two years of service.
On November 22, 1958, he married Joyce (Avant) Campion. Ralph and Joyce moved to Smithville, Texas where they lived and raised their four sons. While Ralph made his home in Smithville, he enjoyed helping his parents on their home place in Saturn farming and raising cattle. The family spent many weekends together in Saturn working their land and cattle, instilling a love for ranching in his children.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce (Avant) Campion; his three sons and their wives, Jimmy and Pam Campion, Darrell and Tammy Campion, and Robert and Hattie Campion. He is survived by his grandchildren Bryan Campion Jr., James Campion and wife Ruth, Bradley Campion, Katie Campion, Shawna Campion, William Campion, Tristan Campion, Trinity Campion and his great-grandchildren Brittany Carrasco, John Michael Carrasco and Hunter Campion. He is also survived by his brother, Samuel "Buck" Campion and wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Herbert Campion Jr., and son Bryan Campion.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at All Faiths of the Pines Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at 9:30 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2013. Burial will be held in private.
