Ricky Funderburke

April 1, 1970 — October 29, 2013

North Austin Location

Our beloved Ricky Andre Funderburke, was born on April 1, 1970 in Fort Hood, Texas to the parentage of Robert L. Funderburke and Willena R. Funderburke. He was the eldest of three children, his brothers Edward "Tony" Funderburke, Joseph Funderbuke and sister Vickie R. Funderburke-Pugh. Ricky was the quintessential big brother, devoted husband, committed best friend and defender of all things right, honest and true.
The family moved to the Travis County almost three decades ago where Ricky attended and graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1989. Dell Computer not only yielded a successful career in technology, while working at Dell Computer he met his wife Nicole Rogers in 1993. They later married in 1999 and blended their families to include his son Brian Funderburke and loving daughters Mo Moreland, Raven Wright and Kadisha Wade. To this beautiful union one child was born in 1998, Andrea Mariah Funderburke. Ricky's "girls" were no doubt the apple of his eye! He always ensured that they knew just how special each of them was to him.
He was preceded in death, by Howard Bell, Sr. (grandfather), Howard "Bo" Bell, Jr. (uncle), Willie Maxine Bell (grandmother) and Ronnie Hawkins, Sr. (uncle).
Ricky is survived by his wife Nicole Funderburke, four daughters, son, mother Willena Funderburke, father Robert Funderburke, and three siblings. He also leaves behind numerous relatives and a host of friends whom he loved and never mind showing by always hosting some momentous event at his house. Whether it was a football game, family get together or a crawfish boil, he made sure everyone had a great time.
Ricky loved and adored his wife of 19 years and her devotion to him was equally evident to everyone who knew them. To all who knew Ricky there was no questioning his love for his favorite sports team, if you cheered for any team outside of the Washington Redskins and Michigan Wolverines you were subject to be banned from every watching a game with him again. One could say he was a truly devoted fan! The team that captured his heart for the last two years was "The Texas Storm" a team founded and brought together by Ricky's love and devotion to the sport and supporting his daughter Andrea. His caring and compassionate approach with each team member and their families was manifested in the winning attitude of all his players and those who supported this fabulous team!
Someone so beautiful gave this world a touch of class that could only be delivered by no one other than "Coach Rick & Big Rick."
