Robbie Lewis

March 30, 1960 — June 4, 2013

North Austin Location

A true force of nature in the universe is now gone. We will all
have to start taking care of each other because
Jill is not here to do it for us. Rest in peace, Sweet Girl.

Jill was born in March of 1960 and passed away Tuesday, June
4, 2013. She was a member of the first graduating class of
Lago Vista High School. In high school, she was a member of
the Volunteer Fire Department and a licensed Emergency
Medical Technician at around 16 years of age.

For many years, Jill worked in the food service industry including stints with South Point
Seafood Company (South and North), Majestic Diner, Chuy's, Romeo's, The Backyard, and many
more. She helped with Chuy's Children Giving to Children Christmas Parade from its inception,
catered food for numerous events, gave tirelessly of her time and talent to any cause, managed
restaurants, bartended, waitressed and basically took care of the people of Austin for years. Her
claim to fame, though, is Austin Slow Burn Gourmet Fiery Foods co-owned with husband Kevin
Lewis. Based on their love of chile peppers, they built an empire of queso, hot sauce, and jellies
winning awards both locally and nationally over the past 20 years. She was a stalwart supporter
of the Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival from its inception, as well as a regular competitor
where Austin Slow Burn won many awards. Austin Slow Burn also has come home with "Best of
Show" for all products from the Houston Hot Sauce Festival. She was a member of Les Dames
de Escoffier, a benevolent society of professional women in the food service industry.

Jill helped everyone. She hugged you, fed you, picked you up and scraped you off, posted your
bail, chewed you out and, yes, possibly even saved your life. She could be seen driving around
town in her white truck, with flames painted on the sides, delivering to groceries and markets
all over the city and much of the state.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by her husband Kevin Lewis and son Kevin Neal Lewis of Austin, parents
Bobby and Norma Green of Marble Falls, sister Teresa Harrison of Austin, along with many
nieces, nephews, in-laws, outlaws, friends, neighbors and associates. She loved you all.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm, Sunday June 9, 2013 at St. Andrews Episcopal High
School Chapel located at 5901 Southwest Pkwy., Austin, TX 78735. We love Hospice! In lieu of
flowers, the family requests that donations are made to Hospice of the Hills or the Hospice of
your choice. Through the Les Dames de Escoffier, a site has been created for donations to
offset medical expenses. Please visit http://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/wgh2/jill-lewismemorial-
fund.

Peace, Love, & Chile's, Baby!
