Robert Henry Crenshaw was born In Jacksonville, Texas on December 6, 1955 to T. C. "Sandy" Crenshaw and Mary Katherine Ledbetter Crenshaw and passed away May 2015 in Austin, Texas. Robert, as he was known to his friends, and, Bobby, as he was known to his family, began his education in Tomball, Texas and completed high school at North Shore in Galena Park ISD where he was a manager for the Mighty North Shore Mustang Football team and sang in the North Shore HS choir. He was a member of Tomball Methodist Church and Holy Trinity Methodist Church where he spent most of his school years. He was also a Boy Scout and achieved the rank of Star.
Robert moved on to higher education by attending San Jacinto College and was commended for his work in the Department of Security while a student there. He went on to complete a BS in Ed. from South West Texas in San Marcos and would never give in to the new name, Texas State University.
Upon graduation, Robert worked for Custom Hi Fi and a local cable company in Austin, but he found his true calling when he acquired a job with The University of Texas System where he guarded the President of U. T. Austin and later worked in the benefits department until he retired. He was working seasonally for the IRS in Austin until his untimely death.
Bobby loved many things in life. He was close to both his immediate and extended family and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved his friends and many of them have been in touch with his family since his passing. He loved music in a way that words cannot describe, and his enthusiasm for Sci Fi Conventions and movies was well known. He was able to obtain numerous autographs from various actors in both of these genres.
Robert was a witty fellow which was only surpassed by his true concern for all his friends, especially if they were in need. He was a giving person both emotionally and financially.
His uniqueness will be greatly missed by those who survive him. They are; mother, Mary Katherine Ledbetter Crenshaw of Houston, brother, Richard Crenshaw, wife, Ellen, and niece Richelle, of Portland, Texas, sister, Sandra Crenshaw Schneider, of Houston, nephews, Christopher Schneider, of Houston, and Cameron Schneider, of Ft Worth, brother, Moss Alan Crenshaw, wife, Rhonda, nephew, Samuel Alan, of Grapevine, niece, Lynette Crenshaw, and FiancAC., Andrew Arbini, of Wiley, Texas, numerous cousins and family members in the Austin area and other parts of Texas.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for Robert will be held at 10:30AM, July 11, 2015, at Austin Memorial Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, TX 78731 with a reception following at the North Hills Court Townhomes Clubhouse, 6527 Valleyside Road Austin, TX 78731.
To honor Robert, you may send donations to the O. A Fisher Family, P.O. Box 188, Vanderpool, Texas 78885. Robert came from a family rich in Texas heritage. Every summer he attended a large Family Reunion at the Fisher Family Camp in Utopia, Texas. It was something he enjoyed immensely. You may also honor him by sending a donation to a charity of your choice. He would have liked it to relate to music.
Robert's immediate family would like to thank our Aunt, Dorothy Ledbetter, cousins Jesse and Dinah Boultinghouse, David and Kathy Helfert, Steve and Dottie Hall, and other close relatives in Austin, Texas for their love and support during this time and for reminding us what family is all about. We would also like to thank his friends from U T Systems, and the IRS for their caring and support as well as his many friends from North Shore High School.
