Robert Purcell

Robert William Purcell, passed away peacefully at his home in Bastrop on Nov.3rd, 2014. Robert is a Bronze Star recipient and additionally decorated veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He has been a dedicated and faithful servant of God, and an active 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Smithville, Texas. He was an ever loving father, and a devoted husband of 52 years to his darling wife Dorothy, who preceded him in death March of this year.
Born Feb 10, 1931, Robert is one of seven children to parents Hugh Redmond Purcell and Loretta Cecelia Purcell.
Robert is survived by son Ray Scribner, daughters Robin Ishmael - husband David, Jan Givens - husband Rick, Loretta Dickson, and Maureen McAdams - husband Terry, plus numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as sister Joan English and brothers Walter Purcell and Dan Purcell.
An active member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Smithville, Robert will be sorely missed by his church family and brother Knights.
We honor his life and faith on Nov. 7th at 7pm with a Rosary in Smithville, All Faiths Funeral Home, and, on Sat. Nov. 8th, celebrate with Mass at St. Paul Catholic Church, Smithville.
Robert Purcell will be buried Wednesday, November. 12, 2014 at 2:30 PM with military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
In lieu of flowers, contributions will be greatly appreciated to the Knights of Columbus - Smithville Scholarship Fund, 205 Garfield, Smithville, TX 78957
