Roger L. Koehler, age 74, went to be with the Lord on July 7, 2013 after a valiant battle with cancer. Roger was born in Peoria, Illinois on May 22, 1939. He graduated from Woodruff High School and attended University of Illinois at Champaign. He and his wife Carol are resent residence of Smithville, TX.
Roger married the love of his life, Carol Schell Dec.1, 1962; they recently celebrated their 50th anniversary.
Roger served in the Air Force from 1962-1965 as computer specialist in Strategic Air Command. After a long career in computer sales he found his calling and passion serving the Lord in the mission field traveling all over the US and abroad. After retirement, he and wife Carol began full time RV life with a mission group RVICS (Roving Volunteers In Christ's Service) This was one of Rogers biggest joys to serve the Lord at various Christian camps, schools and children's homes doing whatever was needed .
Roger is survived by his wife, Carol and his two children ,Michael Koehler and Michelle Koehler; grandchildren; Michael A. Koehler, Tony A. Koehler and Alex Koehler: two great-grandchildren; Nevi and Jeremiah; brother, Robert Koehler; nephews and nieces; Bonnie, Beth, Bob and Doug, Dee and Drew ; Kelsey, Zach and Lindsay.
Roger was predeceased by; his Father Lee Koehler and Mother Opal Koehler and Brother Richard Koehler.
The family will have a Memorial service on July 21, 2013 at Colorado River Cowboy Church in, 4:00 PM in Smithville, Texas. A Memorial Service in Peoria, IL is pending
