Shirley A. Roy Oliver, 79, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, January 14th from pulmonary fibrosis. The daughter of Francis Gilbert White and Gladys Lorraine Little, she was born in Oklahoma City, OK, on October 16, 1934.
After graduating from a Catholic girls' boarding school in Boulder, CO, she married and was blessed with 4 children and divorced prior to the birth of her twins. During her employment at Southwestern Bell she earned her BA in Math at Oklahoma City University. While employed at Tinker AFB, she earned a MS in Logistics Management in Fairborn, OH.
Shirley was a consultant with Informatics in UT, OK, and FL 1979-1983, and was employed by Florida Power & Light in Miami until her retirement in 1993. She moved to Austin in 1994 and was elated to find St. Thomas More Catholic Church where she treasured her many friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Rosemary White (6yrs); granddaughter, Candace Roy; brother, Father Charles White; sons, Richard Roy (Rick) and Edward Roy (Eddie).
Shirley is survived by her son Dennis and Ruth Roy, McLoud, OK; daughter, Rhonda Roy and Brenda Patzel, Lawrence, KS; brother, Richard White, Cleveland, OH; grandchildren Louis and Gisela Roy, Oklahoma City, OK; Shelly Branch, Charleston, S.C., and Dawneva Yandell amd Tessica Evans of TX; numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, and friends including her "family" at St. Thomas More Church.
A wake for Shirley will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 23, 2013 at All Faiths Funeral Services, 8507 N. IH-35, Austin. A bible reading and rosary will be held, no reception at the wake.
A funeral mass will begin at 10:00 AM Friday, January 24th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, the family thanks everyone for the support given to Shirley and brother at this time.
