Steven G. Sharp, 44 of Dripping Springs, TX passed away on February 27, 2023. Steven was born in Lubbock, TX on October 8th, 1978 to Larry and Chong Sharp.
Even from an early age, Steven exhibited some amazing mechanical skills. Kids would come from all over the neighborhood to have him fix their bicycles on hot summer days - just so they could all keep playing until the sun went down.
Steven started riding dirt bikes around the age of 6, and would ride in the vacant field near the house, his Dad even built him a ramp so he could jump his bike.
Steven never missed a chance to go to the local Harley Davidson shop with his Dad, and was known by a lot of the local bikers.
Steven moved with his family to Dripping Springs at the age of 9, when the town only had one blinking amber light and 2 restaurants to choose from!
Growing up in a quiet neighborhood, he was afforded the opportunity to continue developing and honing his passion for all things mechanical and soon developed an interest in remote control {RC} cars. He would spend hours tinkering with them in the garage to make them faster, better, and COOLER than the competition, before racing them on the weekend at a racetrack off Barton Springs Rd. in Austin.
When he was a little older, Steven began working on cars of all kinds, but he had a special place in his heart for the Fox Body Mustang - many will remember Steven in this particular model of car, and many will remember the iconic SP logo displayed on the back window. This decal graced the back windows of many vehicles in Dripping Springs in the mid-to-late 90's and beyond, and if you had one, it meant that Steven had performed work on your car of some kind - from stereo installs, brake jobs, tune-ups, etc. The shop he worked out of behind his parent's house, was like Grand Central Station almost every weekend with cars lined up waiting to be worked on.
Steven rode a motorcycle to school shortly after his 16th birthday that he had built himself, all from parts and pieces he'd dug out of coffee cans and crates.
After he graduated from Dripping Springs High School in 1997, Steven briefly attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, TX before determining that the roads there were simply too harsh for his beloved Mustang. Though he was only there for a short while, he still managed to earn money on the side by working on his classmate's cars since he had brought some tools with him.
After leaving SFA, he then attended SWT in San Marcos, TX . Steven stayed with mechanically related jobs after he left school, his final job was working at a high end classic Jaguar restoration company.
Steven was a highly charismatic, charming, and incredibly talented person who was known to have the "It" factor, meaning that he got it, he understood it, he knew it and he could apply it. He would often come up with brilliant out-of-the box ideas to improve an existing system or method simply because he thought it could be better.
He was a great fishermen as well, and loved fishing off the Texas Gulf Coast with his old college buddies, chasing after Reds and participating in their annual "Sharkathon" meet up in Matagorda Bay. The Sharkathon was a contest between the West Texas boys (Steven) vs, the East Texas boys as to who could catch the most sharks.
Steven was an amazing Son, Brother, Uncle, and Friend and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his parents Larry and Chong, Sister Stacey Roig (Andy) and Niece Cora Lee.
