Vera Sinegal

Vera Faye Williams Sinegal (Faye Baby) was born October 8, 1955, to Rev. Melvin Clearance Williams and Ethel Mae Priestly Williams in Corpus Christi, Texas.

She attended Booker T. Washington Elementary School and Driscoll Junior High School before moving to Yuma, Arizona with her sister Ida Mae. She would later attend Woodrow Wilson High School in Port Arthur, Texas.

While in Port Arthur, she met her first husband Leonard Lewis, Jr. and to that union three children were born. Leonard, Alaska, and Ordonus. She was a devoted with and mother as well as a hard worker. She worked in the Refineries and Local Labor Union 853 in Port Arthur. She then met the love of her life, Wilbert Sinegal Jr., in 1983 after her divorce in 1982.

Vera Faye accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Victory Fellowship Ministries in Austin along with her husband and family under the leadership of Pastor Milton Hill. She was a member of the choir. She also was the original member of the Gospel Group All of Gods Children with her sisters Maryann Pete, Maxine Trask, Linda Young, Carrie Pittman, Capusine Bailey, and Moryann Scott. She really loved the Lord and hearing his word preached. She loved going to gospel musicals.

In 1985, Vera and Wilbert took a leap of faith and moved their family to Austin, Texas, for a better life. She would always thank God and cousin Ms. Annis Dorine Harris for giving them their first apartment in Austin. They were able to grow and flourish. Vera landed her first job in Austin with Southern Union Gas where she worked in C & M then worked her way up to dispatch where she met lifelong friends Ms. Malinda, Ms. Susan and Mr. Mavin Atwood from API before retiring in 2000. Then she drove bulk mail trucks for a couple of years. She then would go to work for Bill Doran Wholesale Florist in 2002, until her health decline in 2014, making friends Mr. Samuel Yett, Patrick Hancock, Mr. Lori, and Lee Fischer and a host of other friends. She also enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Her and Jr. Boy would just go for drives, fish, camp, and cook. You know the food was going to be great!

After the passing of her loving husband Wilbert Sinegal, Jr. in 2014, she would start to draw even closer to friends and family. One thing she enjoyed the most is when her friends and family would take her to sing karaoke. She enjoyed just hanging out and having fun and just being silly. After she went on her first cruise with Maryanne Pete she was hooked! They loved taking cruises every year until the pandemic shut everything down. She enjoyed checking on her family and would call if she wouldn’t hear from them. She loved talking to her best friends on the phone Ms. Emily Fillmore, Annie Harris, Sherry Shanklin, Rosemary Darden, they were like sisters to her as well as several of her brothers. James Johnson always kept her laughing and Pastor Charles King would really keep her on her toes. If you had a need she would help with what she could because her love for Christ. She would let you know where you stood with her out of love.

Vera Faye was a great mother, sister, aunt, friend, and mentor to many. Vera Faye inspiration and sound advice helped many of those she came in contact with. Always the life of the party, and a great cook, she loved family gatherings and holidays. Vera Faye left a lasting impression on all that came in contact with her. She was loved by many and will be truly missed. The family would like to thank Tavia Green her dialysis nurseand her PD Dr. Ting Chi Lu for their love. They held a special place in her heart. Her church family for always making her feel like she was a sister to them. And Mr. TJ Thompson for taking her fishing.

Vera Faye is preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Sinegal, Jr.; her parents, Rev. Melvin Williams and Ethel Maye Williams; brothers, Charles Lee Williams, Rosevelt Williams, Albert Melvin Williams, James Edward Williams; sisters, Sally Elaine Williams, Maxine Trask, Linda Ruth Young, and Ida Mae Tena.

She leaves to cherish her memories her three children, Leonard Lewis (Chante) of Pflugerville, Alaska Lewis and Ordonus Lewis of Manor; two sisters, Gloria Jean Pollard of Peoria, Illinois, Maryanne Pete of Rockdale, Texas; five grandchildren, David Jackson, Manor, Texas, Deja Lewis of Pflugerville, Texas, and Nahjea Carter, Manor, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Linnea Williams of Manor, Sir’ Lundyn Lewis of Pflugerville; aunts Betty Jones of Austin, Texas, Gladys Rose of Austin, Texas; and one uncle, Alfrod Moffett, Jr. (Flore Mae) of Austin; five inherited sons, Arthur Lee Lewis (Carolyn) of Austin, Texas, Arton Lewis (Quintessa) Killeen, Texas, Lawrence Lewis and Edward Lewis of Port Arthur, Texas, and Ashton Lewis (Kim) of Georgetown, Texas; her sister-in-law, who she loved dearly, Ms. Lorraine Williams, Victoria, Athie Williams of Corpus Christi, Texas, Ms. Vernell Williams of Austin, Texas, Ms. Bridgett Betjeman of Port Arthur, Texas; and brothers-in-law, Donald Ray Sinegal of Austin, Terry Sinegal of Elroy, Texas; and a hose of nieces, nephews, friends and family
