Vernon Davis

Vernon Troy Davis was born in Smithville on November 24, 1968 to Augusta Oliver Davis and John T. Powell Jr. He accepted Chris at an early age. He attended Smithville Public Schools. He received his GED and went to attend Continental Truck Driving School in De Soto, Texas. He received his CDL license and drove trucks for the Big Red Corporation.

He had a love for cutting hair and gave haircuts to whoever needed one; free of charge. Vernon loved to fish and spend time with his niece and nephew. He loved his Dallas Cowboys and was a die-hard fan! Win or lose he continued to always support his Cowboys. Vernon had a big heart and was very kind and free hearted and was loved by many all over.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Augusta Oliver Davis; brother, Keith Oliver; nephew, Davion Harrison; uncle, Dennis Oliver; and grandparents, Monroe Oliver and Willie Charles Oliver. He leaves to charish his memories; sister, Meche Davis, Dallas; sons, Kyle and Cody Burleson, Smithville; nephew, Jeffrey Davis, San Marcus; aunt and uncle, Janice and Greg Johnson, Smithville; aunt, Joyce Marie Fortice, Houston; uncle, Ed Oliver, Smithville; sister, Barbara Anderson, Bastrop; and special friend Aleisha Anderson, Smithville; and a host of relatives and friends.

A visitation with the family will take place from 4:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday July, 26, 2013 at All Faiths of the Pines, Smithville, TX. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, Smithville, TX. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Amithville, TX.
