Virginia Marie Hall Hannusch, 71, long time resident of Smithville, Texas, passed away on March 18, 2013.
Virginia was born on December 25, 1941, the only child of John Henry Hall and Mary Belle Hancock. Virginia graduated in 1960 from Smithville High School where she met the love of her life Harold Dale Hannusch. They were married on December 17, 1960.
She spent her working career in Smithville, working with several local merchants. Her first job was keeping books and engraving signs for Margaret Webster. She then clerked at Smith's Pharmacy for a short time. Her next job would include a life long friendship with her employer, Silky Crockett. She worked there for 24 years until its closing.
Her next career would be working with the children of Brown Primary, which became her love. She worked for the school district for a total of 13 years. During her working career she taught Sunday School for Grace Lutheran Church and was Cub Master for Smithville Cub Scout Pack 183 for the past 25 years, which is the largest pack in Texas for a town of this size. She was involved in Scouting for over 30 years, having raised three Eagle Scouts of her own.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Harold Dale Hannusch; her parents Henry and Mary Belle Hall; grandparents Walker & Grace (Lou) Hancock and Jack and 0`Tillia Hall.
She is survived by five children: Jason Hannusch of Austin; Jeff and wife Caren Hannusch of Smithville; Tammy and husband Doug Teague of Smithville; Pamela and husband Steve Lawhon of Taylor; and Branden Hannusch of Smithville.
Grandchildren: Megan and Jordan Hannusch of Bastrop;
Braeden and Maisen Lawhon of Taylor; Jacob and Madison Hannusch of Smithville; Ryan Teague, USMC Okinawa, Japan; Justin and Hannah Teague of Smithville; and one great-grandson Finley Welch of Bastrop.
The family will receive friends at All Faiths of the Pines, Friday, 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers are her grandsons.
