Wayne Noe Hill, 82, of Center, TX, passed away on May 16, 2015, in Austin, TX after a brief struggle with cancer.
Wayne was born December 9, 1932, in Peoria, IL, the son of Robert Vernon Hill and Noma C. Hill. He grew up in Marion, Illinois, and attended the University of Illinois where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and received a Bachelor of Arts in Geology. He served in the U.S. Army stationed in Europe. After completing service, he obtained his Master's degree in Geology from Washington University in St. Louis.
Wayne worked for Exxon for 34 years. He traveled extensively throughout the world for his job, moving the family to Oklahoma, Texas, California, Illinois, and then back to Texas. His passions included photography, traveling, gardening, fishing, and hunting. He never met a stranger, and enjoyed talking to everyone. He loved learning new things and became an expert at anything that piqued his interest.
He is survived by his wife, Millie Hill of Center, TX, his three sons and their wives, Joe R. and Kathy Hill of Austin, TX, Dan V. and Sheryl Hill of Pearland, TX, and Mike E. and Laura Hill of Timpson, TX, and his sister, Noma V. Moore of Saint Elmo, IL. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Becky J. Hill, Hannah E. Hill, and Sarah K. Hill, of Austin, TX; Laura Ann Hill, of Pearland, TX; and Hannah J. Hill, Barry W. Hill, and Caleb J. Hill of Timpson, TX. Wayne was very proud of his grandchildren whom he doted on and adored.
He was generous with his time, money, and knowledge. His passing will leave a hole in the lives of many. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
