Willard Peavy, Sr

Willard Peavy, Sr. was born in Plaquermine, LA to DeWitt and Jane Peavy (deceased). He had 5 siblings: C.D. Peavy (passed) and wife Doris of GA; Greta Peavy of LA; Betty Caston (passed) and husband Bobby of LA; Leo Peavy (passed) and wife Jennie of LA; twin sister Wilma Peavy (passed); 5 half-siblings: Barbara Strother and husband Ronnie of LA; Wayne Peavy (passed) and wife Caroline of LA; Donnie Peavy of FL; Jerry Peavy and wife Cathy of TX; and Robert Peavy of LA.

Willard was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joyce Wilhelm Peavy, and 3 children: Philip (Rita) of Austin; Willard, Jr. (Lisa) of Dale; and Robert (LouAnn) of Smithville; 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and another due in January.

After 27 years of service, Willard retired from the military as an E7; branches of service were: National Guard, Air Force and Army. He was also a member of the Five Points Volunteer for 29 years, where he served with pride alongside his fellow firefighters. He was a member of the Farmers Market, Smithville American Legion and WOW/WOM of Rockne. He had several hobbies including mechanics, fishing and woodworking. Willard will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM Tuesday with Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at All Faiths of the Pines Funeral Home, Smithville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 21 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in String Prairie. Interment will follow at String Prairie Cemetery.
