Mr. William H. “Bill” Bradley of Round Rock, Texas died peacefully on March 27, 2017 at Falcon Ridge Rehabilitation in Hutto, TX at the age of 94.
Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Betty Lou Wilson; children, Carolyn Ann Smith, James C. Bradley, Larry G. Bradley, and William H. Bradley Jr; siblings, Marion E. Blount, John L. Bradley, and Janis M. Swartz; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother James C. Bradley, sister Silva L. Tucker, and his daughter Darlena F. Bradley.
Bill was born on October 8, 1922 in Alliance, Ohio to James C. and Mildred L. Bradley (Cherrington). He attended school in Alliance Ohio before joining the Civilian Conservation Corps for a time. Like his father and grandfather he worked for the railroad, first as a mason, and later as a member of train crew eventually becoming a locomotive fireman. During World War II, he served in the United States Army, 734th Railway Battalion as both a fireman and an engineer. During the war, he participated in the battles of Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe, earning The Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 3 bronze stars. After leaving the service he worked for a time as a locomotive engineer in a steel mill, before taking a job in sales with a bakery company. In 1956 he took a job with State Chevrolet in Youngstown, Ohio where he worked as a salesman and sales manager for 19 years. After leaving State he worked until retirement at Quality Truck Body in Youngstown as their sales manager. After moving to Texas, and never being one to be idle, Bill took a part time position with home depot, which he held for 19 years.
Bill was an avid and accomplished golfer who played at every opportunity as long as health would allow.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Thursday, April 6th at Faith Baptist Church 3625 Gattis School Road, Round Rock, Texas 78664 @ 7:00 P.M. All are welcome to attend.
