William (Bill) Rogers Martin, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2015. Bill was born October 4, 1931 in Fort Worth, Texas to William (Bill) Woodson Martin and Mary Christine Hill Martin. After serving our country in the U.S. Army, he pursued his lifelong career as a cattle trader beginning at the Fort Worth Stockyards as a young teen. A Master Mason with a lifetime endowment membership, Bill was a member of the Eagle Pass Masonic Lodge. Bill, an accomplished pilot, enjoyed his many hobbies of fishing, sailing, hunting, and roping. But most of all he loved his family and friends and will be deeply missed by so many. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marta Narvaez Martin; sons, Jim Martin and wife Robyn, Bill Martin Jr. and wife Becky; daughters, Vickie Gall and husband Steve, Nancy Martin, Laura Zapalac and husband Terry, Marisa Vantrease and husband Larry; brother, Jim Martin and wife Velma; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at All Faiths of the Pines Funeral Home in Smithville, Wednesday, September 2 from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 3 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Smithville. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville.
