William Norwood

William Forest Norwood was born to the late William F. Norwood and Ella Tabor Norwood on May 6, 1922 in Austin, Tx. On March 24,2020 Angels were dispatched and William was spiritually lifted to join them as they welcomed a saint of God, from labor to reward.

As a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church under the Leadership of the late Pastor L.C. Lott and Pastor Marvin Griffin, William accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was on fire for the Lord. Raised in a Christian home he faithfully attended Sunday School and BTU. In his early years of education, he attended Austin area schools ( Blackshear, Old Kealing Junior High, and Old Anderson High School). William also attended Tillotson College (Huston Tillotson University). William also was a dedicated grounds keeper at St. David’s Medical Center for 17 years then he retired. William also was a soldier in the Armed Forces serving in New Guinea, Australia during WW2.

People often go through life searching for their true soul-mates. However, God would have it ,that, was not the case for William. He met the love of his life, and soul-mate, Minnie Elizabeth Neal. Theses two kindred souls joined in holy matrimony on June 11,1959. To this union nine children were born. He loved his family and would be there for anyone in their time of need. William was proceeded in death by his wife Minnie, Both parents William and Ella, Brother Howard, his daughter Marie, his Granddaughter Lavonda Neal, his Grandson John Norwood, Son-in-law Johnny Hardeman.

William will forever be loved and remembered in the hearts of his beloved Children, two sons Jacob Norwood of Austin, Joseph Neal (Mae Pearl) of Elgin, Texas. Six daughters; Paula Norwood and Roshon Norwood of San Antonio, Texas. Barbara Hardeman of Austin, Texas. Carol Lawson (John) of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Mary Glasco (Julian) of Temple, Texas and Elizabeth Neal of Temple Texas. Sixteen Grandchildren, Fifteen Great Grandchildren, Six Great Great Great Grandchildren, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
