William Thomas "Bill" Walsworth
"My Father, My Partner, My Best Friend"
Passed away February 15, 2018 in a local hospital after a sudden illness, he was 86 years old.
He was born April 4th 1931 in Chicago Illinois to, William H. Walsworth and Bernice M. Niemiec. After his Mothers untimely death in Nov. 1933, he was raised by his Parents William and Mary Gielarowski Walsworth. The family moved from Chicago to East Gary Indiana and finally to the Family farm in Westville Indiana. Bill was raised with four younger brothers, they all attended Jackson Township Porter Co. Indiana Schools, where Bill Graduated Jackson Township High School in June 1949. Bill entered the United States Air Force on October 24th 1950, serving at Lackland Air Force Base San Antonio. After graduating basic training, he continued at Lackland Serving as a T.I. "Technical Instructor" in the 3700th Military Training Wing, 3720th Basic Military Training Air Group, 3725th Basic Military Training Squadron where he trained many flights over four years and over 1600 recruits. He was also a member of the "Precisionaire Drill Team" and Played 3 rd base on the squadron fast pitch softball team, were they won many tournaments over 4 years. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant and left the military on October 23, 1954 after proudly Serving his country. He attended trade school in San Antonio to learn commercial carpentry and joined local 14 Carpenters Union in 1954. He worked for a couple of General Contractors over The years, working and then supervising on many projects including, the Mercy Hospital in Laredo, Canyon Creek Country Club, and the Night Hawk Top Chop in San Antonio. He met Harry Akin, owner of the Night Hawk Chain while building the Top Chop, and was convinced by Mr. Akin, after Mr. Akin recognized his abilities and dedication to work to come and work for Him, in November 1962, which began a 30 year career as Chief Engineer with Night Hawk. Mr. Akin was not only Bill's boss, but also a friend until his death in 1976. After leaving Night Hawk In 1992, Bill started his own business with his son Scott, where they worked for many customers And friends, until retiring in April 2017 when his beloved wife became ill. Bill met 'the love of his life" Barbara Jo Wells in San Antonio in 1960, and were married on May 26th 1961. Their only Child together Scott Walsworth, was born in May 1962. They were happily married until Barbara's Death on September 8th 2017 after 56 years of marriage. Bill has one child from a previous marriage, and he helped Barbara raise her 3 children from her previous marriage. They moved to Austin in 1972, living in the Westlake area. After their children graduated from Westlake High School, they moved to Lockhart where Bill and Barbara and Scott raised their wonderful goats.
Bill and his family moved to Sunset Valley in 1992 where he had the greatest friends and Neighbors. Bill is survived by his beloved son Scott Walsworth, three brothers Vernon"Buck",Roger and Tim Walsworth. He is also survived by his Uncle Leo P. Niemiec of Chicago, Cousin Anthony "Junior" Mazurkiewicz of South Carolina, David and Mark Lehman Of Austin, Niemiec of Chicago, Daniel and Douglas Jankowski of Tennesse, Rodney Lechwar Illinois and Stanley Lechwar South Carolina, and his sweet little dog Rosie and his cat Miss Kitty. And a special Thank You to Pat, Bill, William "Billy" Bonewicz and Lela Bonewicz Abate. Their Constant Love, Friendship, Care and Compassion has sustained our family Through Many heartbreaks over the years, God Bless Them. !!
Bill was preceded in death by his Beloved wife Barbara, his Mother Bernice, Brother Bruno James, His beloved Grandmother Helen Pociask Niemiec, Grandfather Vincent "Pa" Niemiec, youngest brother Terrance "Red" Walsworth, Parents William and Mary Gielarowski Walsworth, Grand Parents George and Susan "Pa and Ma" Gielarowski and several Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held Saturday March 17th 2018 starting at 12:30 at the All Faiths Funeral Home at 8507 N. IH 35 Austin Texas 78753. Visitation will follow after the service till 3:00p.m.
