Andrew Hill Sr.

August 16, 1930 — December 19, 2022

South Austin Location

Andrew Eugene Hill, Sr., affectionately known as Beedy, 92, departed this life on December 19, 2022, surrounded by family. He was born August 16, 1930, in St. John Colony, Texas to the late Narvell Winn Hemphill and Willie Hill. Andrew committed his life to Christ at an early age at St. John Regular Missionary Baptist Church, where he was an active member for a majority of his life. Andrew often told stories of his times working for Texas Gas Service as well as other jobs. However, no job was greater than his job as a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend.
Andrew is preceded in death by his late wife, Etta Marie Hill; his parents, Willie Hill and Narvell Hemphill; five sisters: Willie Lee Harper, Rosezetta Houston, Colleen Demps, Lenora Pratt, and Elnora Albert; four brothers: Edmond Hill, Jimmy Lee Hill, Frank James Hill, and Clayton Hemphill; three sons: Frankie Lee Hill, Bobby Lee Hill Sr, and Ray "RayBoy" Hill. He leaves to cherish his memory his better half, Mildred “Sugah Puddin’” Armstrong of Luling, Tx; one sister Lue Rece Tennon of Austin, Tx; his children, Carolina Hill Jackson, Larry D. Anderson (Von), Linda Faye Hughes (Daniel), Andrew Eugene Hill, Jr. (Sharry), Fay Eugene McMarion Carter (Brent), Debra Hill Gray (Robert), David Wayne Hill (Chrishun), and Michael Ray Hill (Miccaa). Andrew is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives.
Beedy’s life spanned 2 centuries. He lived through The Great Depression of the 1930s, the invention of Color Tv in the 50s, the Civil Rights Movement of the 60s, 1970’s Disco Era, the Rubik’s cube and Pac-man in the 80’s, High-top fades in the 90’s, Barack Obama became the 1st Black President in 2008, then backdoored his presidency in 2012, now we finally arrive to the 2020’s..Covid-19 Pandemic. Can you imagine the things he has witnessed? Not only witnessed but survived! Andrew was the pillar of this family. There was nothing that he would not do for his family and friends. Not because he was obligated to, but because he wanted to.
